Margaret Pruett has served on the VISD Board of Trustees since 2016, playing a key role in securing over $20 million in grants, advocating for teacher pay raises, and maintaining the district’s lowest tax rate in 30 years. Her leadership has contributed to a 97% graduation rate, ensuring that Victoria’s students succeed academically and are well-prepared for the future.

With a strong track record of securing funding for educational initiatives, advocating for lower taxes, and promoting teacher retention, I will continue working to create opportunities for every student in the district to thrive, ensuring that the community remains engaged and supported in all aspects of education.

A Heart for Family, A Passion for Service
Family is the heart of everything Margaret Pruett does. She and her husband, Houston, have built a life rooted in love, faith, and dedication to their three children—Malana, Nicole, and Bear. Each of them has pursued their own path, from law and biomedical science to skilled trades, a testament to the values of education, hard work, and perseverance that Margaret holds dear. Through every milestone and achievement, her greatest joy has been supporting and guiding her family. Just as she has devoted herself to her children’s success, Margaret brings that same commitment and passion to serving her community.
